[ Update and Jordan almonds ]

Ok... deep breath.

So off I went! to the Station of Police to fill out the report. Here's a highlight:
"Ok... fill out to the best of your recollection, exactly what happened that day. Write it out as if, if you were to drop dead tomorrow, we could pick up this piece of paper and still recount exactly what had happened that day, just the way you saw it."
Uh, ok Officer Morbid... I'll do my best.
So, yeah, in the end he gave me a ticket: "Failure to allow proper space for safe movement of vehicle" and a fine of $115. I don't feel too bad, as he was being very nice, and the ticket could have been $400, plus 6 demerits. I think I'll just pay it, since he gave me a deal and I hate going to the courthouse. I say that like I'm there every other day, but in fact I've only visited once, and once is enough, my friends.
I didn't play the insurance fraud card, grlscout, because I just want it to be over. And karma will get her, if that's the case. And I had already been to the Station and back by the time you put the idea in my head... so.... damn. WhatEVER.
In other news...
M and I have finally chosen our wedding reception venue. Initially we were going to use artsp@ce gallery... deposit down and everything. Then, we began to lose confidence in the place when we started to hear bad things from their own "preferred" caterers. Plus, they were going to charge us an arm and a leg for booze. So, now it will be at the E@rl Grey Golf Course, even though we said we would never go the hotel/golf course route. At this point, we so couldn't care less, we could have it at the Wedding Pavillion.
No, we wouldn't.
So, it should be nice because it will be an August wedding and the room has tonnes of windows and a great view, as well as a patio area for the smokers.
So far I have:
-my dress & shoes
-our ceremony location (Baker Park near Bowness)
-our reception venue
-our invite samples (this is a cheat entry to make me feel better... we still have to choose between them, but at least the ball's rolling!)
-our wedding party
-my hairstylist
-my cake (ok.... I totally haven't done this either, but we've decided on Crave cupcakes!!)
-decided even though I hate them, we'll be having a buffet

If you're wondering why I haven't been on D-Land, its because I've been in the "Weddingbelles" forums, biting my nails at the hard-core bridezillas and wonding what makes someone put together their wedding favours and centerpieces 6 months before their wedding, and is this something I should be doing?

I have chosen three anti-bridesmaids: a sister who lives in BC with two kids and is the Editor for what essentially is a porno mag for pot-smokers; a friend in the midst of working on her Masters in English and has already sworn up and down she will NEVER get married (or at least have a wedding); a married friend who just became a full-fledged lawyer, who was married in Vegas and hates public displays of affection. She made fun of me once when I bought a wedding magazine (after I was engaged).
These girls will not tie jordan almonds in tulle bags with ribbons for me (not that I want them), but I'll bet they'll throw me a wicked bachelorette party someday. Here's hoping...

the lieutenant
